The Page Layout Tab
Page Setup Tools
Margins tools
Margins allows you to modify the amount of blank space which surrounds the printable section of your worksheet. The default allows for a clean view of your work, but may not be suitable for all situations.
Orientation tools
Orientation allows you to decide if your worksheet should be printed in portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal).
Size tools
Size allows you to define what format of paper your spreadsheet is intended to be printed on. It will reflect these changes when exporting the worksheet into a PDF as well.
Print Area tools
Print Area allows you to limit what can be printed from a workbook down to the set of cells which you select. The cells do not necessarily need to be in one continuous range, it is just important to validate that the document prints as intended when making these modifications.
Print Titles tools
Print Titles allows you to select a range of cells which need to be included on every page when printing a document. This functions similarly to how a Header would work, with the exception that it exists on the worksheet and may contain formulas.
Scale to Fit Tools
Width tools
Width allows you to define a set amount of pages which you want the active worksheet to take up horizontally when printing (ex: 2 would make the headers on your workbook stretch across two pages)
Height tools
Height allows you to define a set amount of pages which you want the active worksheet to take up vertically when printing (ex: 2 would make all active rows on your workbook would stretch down to best fit three pages)
Scale tools
Scale allows you to dynamically set parameters for how your document should be printing. This could be forcing it to fit on one page, have all columns on one page, or having all rows on one page.
Sheet Options Tools
Gridlines tools
Gridlines allows you to decide if you want to see the background cell gridlines while working in a workbook, and if you want them to also be visible when printing said workbook.
Headings tools
Headings allows you to decide if you want to see the column headers while working in a workbook, and if you want them to also be visible when printing said workbook.
Arrange Tools
Bring Forward tools
Bring Forward allows you to move inserted objects like pictures, text boxes, word art, forward one layer, or to the frontmost layer of objects.
Send Backward tools
Send Backward allows you to move inserted objects like pictures, text boxes, word art, backwards one layer, or to the backmost layer of objects.
Selection Pane tools
Selection Pane allows you to view a list of all inserted objects and manipulate some of their properties such as if they are to be visible on the sheet and which layer order they reside.
Align tools
Align allows you to cleanly and evenly arrange the list of selected objects against a common reference point. This allows for uniformity and a more visually pleasing aesthetic.
Group tools
Group allows you to effectively link together multiple inserted objects so when one is moved or resized all others in the group experience the same manipulations.
Rotate tools
Rotate allows you to reorient the selected object to your liking. It allows you to do this freehand, or in 90-degree increments.
