Window Tools

New Window tool

  • New Window allows you to open a duplicate window of the workbook you are currently in. Any modifications made on one will be mirrored on the other in real time. Note that it is not making a copy of the workbook itself, it is only giving you a second window in which to view the workbook.

Arrange All tool

  • Arrange All allows you to stack the multiple open windows you have for easy viewing. They can be stacked in four different formats, and you can choose to only stack the windows pertaining to the active workbook you are in.

Freeze Panes tool

  • Freeze Panes allows you to select a portion of the active worksheet which will remain ‘frozen’ on the screen while scrolling. Options include freezing the top row of the worksheet, the first column of the worksheet, or everything above and to the left of the cell you have currently selected.

Split tool

  • Split allows you to create a divider in the worksheet window you are using and perform a function similar to that of the New Window tool, with the exception that both segments exist within one window.

Hide tool

  • Hide allows you to make an Excel window invisible. This can be done as long as there is a visible window available to be hidden.

Unhide tool

  • Unhide allows you to select a previously hidden window and make it visible once more. This can be done as long as there is at least one window being hidden.

View Side by Side tool

  • View Side by Side automatically places all windows of the same worksheet in the last format as selected by the Arrange All tool.

Synchronous Scrolling tool

  • Synchronous Scrolling allows for all windows showing the same worksheet to keep pace with one another when scrolling through the worksheet either horizontally or vertically.

Reset Window Position tool

  • Reset Window Position allows you to reset the current multiple window setup back to the format it was in when initially configured.

Switch Windows tool

  • Switch Windows allows you to quickly select one of the multiple windows you have open to become the active windows. Windows are labelled with the document name and instance of said document as its description in the menu.
